OUR STORY
I have always loved animals, working in veterinarian offices, boarding facilities, training facilities, and learning as much as I could. I was the one bringing home all animals at who knows what time! Passion and dedication, and a lot of pushing from Lilly has made us grateful to offer "Boondock Boarding and Rescue, LLC."
Lilly is a nine year old Husky/Shepherd mix who stole my heart from the beginning . Her father was a gift as a puppy from my mom, and years later, Lilly was born just 2 days after I had lost them both.Lilly has gone everywhere with me the last 9 years. Since then, she has gotten extreme separation anxiety-chewing door handles, jumping out of windows, and breaking multiple teeth. I never knew what I was going to come home too: broken legs, broken back, broken teeth, a lost dog? And as she got older, she could still jump 6 foot walls, chew through metal kennels, and run through sedation. Fireworks, thunderstorms, and gunshots were triggers also, but I could never leave without worrying if my best friend was going to be home when I got there. What kind of life was that for her, and what could I do to protect her?
After purchasing a house with a kennel on the property, "The Boondocks" became a dream come true for Ray & I. We are a small, husband & wife owned and operated, family oriented, home environment for our clients of all shapes & sizes. We love what we do, and enjoy the happiness and smiles from the comfort and fun we provide. Our home & the kennel was vacant for five years, with no heat, water, or electricity-we had a lot of work to do! After repairing the damage from Lilly in the office area of the kennels (it was zombie proof but not Lilly proof) and we are open! Painting, remodeling, redesigning and restructuring the kennel to Lilly's approval has taken almost a year. Now, we can be home with her, and know that she is safe. That's why here at The Boondocks, our main priority is pet safety and parent comfort, easing the distress of pet parents leaving their pets with someone else. We know the fear, the stress, the heartache, and will do anything we possibly can for you and your pets to have a happy, safe, vacation! As we love to be outside enjoying the nature and fresh air, we believe dogs should be outside all day enjoying natures serenity as well. When you come to us, you become part of our family, and we are here for you! Even on rainy or cold days, we have an indoor play area, so your pets are only in their kennels at night. A day away from the city, and a day in the sunshine is sometimes just what we need! A family-orientated household, our home is open to all: small, large, old, or young, we strive for pet comfort, with personalized care, constant communication with pet owners, ensuring a safe, happy stay!
